When most people think about “giving,” they immediately think of donating money.
Don’t get me wrong—financial giving is incredible. But last week I hosted a call with 20 impact driven entrepreneurs and I asked a simple question.
“Whats the #1 thing that stops you from making more impact”
17 of the 20 people wrote down “More money”
..While I agree, more money can make giving easier, sometimes we lose sight of what is classified under the work of philanthropy.
I live by these 3 ways to give: Time, Money, or Resources.
And when you realize that giving is so much more than writing a check, it opens up so many more opportunities to make a difference.
1. Time ⏰
Time is one of the most valuable things we can offer to non-profits because they often can’t afford to hire people and are always under the pressure to do more with less.
If you don’t have money to donate, dedicating even one hour can make a massive impact and be oftentimes even more impactful than a financial donation.
Example: Volunteering at a local shelter or animal rescue.
One hour spent walking dogs, organizing donations, or simply sitting and chatting with someone in need can be the highlight of their day—and yours.
One hour. One person. One massive impact.
Pro tip: Block out the time in your calendar every month to make it part of your routine. Don’t say “If I have time this week, I’ll go volunteer”… you will never have time, so just prioritize it!
2. Money đź’¸
So often we feel like we need to make a large donation to charity for it to feel meaningful. But what if you focused less on the amount and more on the impact.
Example: Your $50 donation to a charity might feel insignificant, but if you bought 10 $5 gift cards for people to get a free coffee and gave them out to people in need, that same amount could create a much bigger impact..
We often think we need to give thousands to make a difference, but sometimes the small gestures are the ones that stick. Don’t let limiting beliefs stop you from doing good.
3. Resources 🛠️
This is the most overlooked form of giving—but it’s also one of the most powerful.
What are “resources”?
It could be skills, expertise, equipment, connections, or even something as simple as tools you’re no longer using.
Example: If you’re a business owner, offer your course or services for free to non-profits. If you’re a videographer, donate an afternoon to shoot content for their social media.
A friend of mine started giving her youth empowerment course to orphanages to build confidence in the kids. She’s helped over 120 kids go through the program and given them confidence they may have never had.
I’d argue that this is more powerful than money or time in this scenario and that the happiness she gets from supporting is a staple in her life now.
The Key Takeaway:
Giving doesn’t have to be overwhelming or expensive. It’s about showing up with what you have available.
This is one of my favourite quotes;
“It doesnt matter how much you give, it matters that you give”
So, my challenge for you this week:
👉 Look at your schedule—where can you give an hour of your time?
👉 Forget the dollar amount—Where can you let $20 make a bigger impact?
👉 Get resourceful—what resource or skills are you holding onto that could help someone else?
Let’s stop overcomplicating what it means to give and start recognizing it’s about the ACT of giving, not the amount!
TLDR:
Giving isn’t just about money. You can give your time, money, or resources.
Small acts—like an hour at a shelter, $20 for groceries, or donating unused equipment—can create massive impact.
“It’s not about how much you give, it’s that you give!”
Take a moment this week to find one way you can give.
→ PS: If you want to use your time, money and resources all at once, we are hosting an incredible trip in February for a group of high caliber entrepreneurs to go serve a family in need! You can learn a little bit about it below and feel free to book in a call with me to chat about it!
