Make Impact With Your Kids

[~3 minute read]

A couple of months ago I was approached by my client, The Epic Fit Network, who runs an impact experience at each mastermind event they run.
(PS, if you run a mastermind or network and you aren’t doing this, you should!)

They said they wanted to include their son in the process for the next event and have him get involved with the giving they are doing…

Well thats a no-brainer — of course we can!

→ What I didn’t expect, was to be inspired by the generosity that a 10-year-old could bring to the table.

When I asked Chase what he thought we should support, he said

“Well when I walk around the streets, I see a lot of homeless people with kids, and that makes me sad. Can we support something that helps kids that come from less fortunate families”

Lets take a second and understand this:
1) A 10 year old just gave away the #1 secret that I use to help my clients…
DON’T OVER COMPLICATE IT! Find something that inspires you and do something for them.

2) Our children are always watching us. This wasn’t by accident. Chase’s parents have done a great job explaining to him the power of helping others.

3) If you’re like me, you probably smiled while reading that and your heart grew a little bit. Giving is one of the purest ways to bring JOY to our lives.

So with Chase’s help we found an incredible organization called Cradles to Crayons that helps provide backpacks, clothing, and other necessities to kids less fortunate.

→ PS; I just did a webinar on how to find and vet a charity, if you want to watch it, you can grab it here for free: WATCH THE WEBINAR

On the day of the event, I brought Chase in to help me lead the exercise from the front of the room and share WHY he chose that charity and what it mean to him.

HE CRUSHED IT and got the biggest cheer of the event.

As a group, we packed over 200 backpacks that day.

The highlight for most of the people in the room was understanding how big of an impression we made on our kids by bringing them along to serve with us!

…But part of the deal with Chase was he also had to share with his class the next day WHY he skipped school to be there with us!

The ripple effect really came when Chase stood in front of his whole class and told them about the impact we made that day, and the texts I received from his parents saying how grateful they were he got to experience this.

…So my challenge for you after reading this, is where can we start influencing the younger generation to be the change we want to see in the world. Don’t be afraid to let them skip school for a bigger cause..even teachers encourage it! (see photo below) 💪🙏

TLDR:

1) Make more impact with your kids, they are always watching
2) If you want help finding and vetting a charity, watch the video training.
3) Don’t over-complicate the process, pick something and go support it
4) Sometimes life experiences can outweigh classroom experiences.
